Website privacy & cookies
Last updated: 9 October 2026.
Who operates this website
Max Holley operates webh.dev. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email max@webh.dev. This policy covers this website, including its hosted privacy pages. Linked apps and external websites have their own policies. The Local Speak and Local Voice extension policies describe those extensions separately.
Hosting and requests
This static website is hosted through GitHub Pages. Requests to load pages and assets include ordinary connection information such as your IP address, requested URL and browser headers. GitHub processes hosting logs, including IP addresses for security, under its privacy statement. Rejecting analytics does not prevent requests needed to deliver the site.
Optional Google Analytics
If you accept analytics, this website loads Google Analytics 4 using measurement ID G-NNNNR7LL07. It helps us understand visits, page use, engagement, device and browser types, and approximate location. Google receives technical connection information, including your IP address; Google states that GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. Analytics uses identifiers stored in cookies to distinguish visits and visitors.
We do not load the Google Analytics tag or send analytics events before you accept, or when you reject. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google Signals are disabled in this site's tag configuration. We exclude URL query strings, fragments and the referring URL from the page information configured by this site. Avoid putting personal information in URLs or interactions; Google's enabled measurement features may collect additional interaction information.
Analytics is used on the basis of your consent. You can refuse or withdraw it using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. Withdrawal stops subsequent collection by this site and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies; it does not automatically delete data already collected. Google processes analytics data on infrastructure that may be outside the UK or EEA. See Google's privacy policy and Google's information about Analytics privacy and safeguards for its processing and transfer protections.
Cookies and local storage
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
webh-analytics-consent-v1 (local storage) | Remembers your accept or reject choice so we can respect it. | Valid for 180 days, then we ask again. The stored record remains until replaced or you clear browser storage. |
theme (local storage) | Remembers the colour theme you select on the portfolio. | Until you clear browser storage. |
_ga, _ga_* (cookies) | Optional Google Analytics visitor and session identifiers, set only after consent. | Typically up to two years; Google may refresh expiry on later visits, and Analytics settings can change duration. |
The consent choice and theme preference are functional local storage. They are not sent to an analytics service as their stored values. You can delete cookies and local storage through your browser. If storage is unavailable, your choice may not persist after navigation and we will ask again; analytics remains off until you accept.
Google Analytics retention depends on the property's configured retention settings and Google's policies. Aggregated reports may be retained differently from event-level data. Contact us for the current settings or a request relating to data already collected.
Fonts, external links and correspondence
The portfolio loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives ordinary request information including your IP address and browser headers. Font requests are separate from optional Google Analytics and occur even when analytics is rejected. Privacy pages use local/system fonts. External links take you to sites governed by their own policies.
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments. We use them to respond, provide support and handle privacy requests, on the basis of legitimate interests or applicable legal obligations. Email providers also process correspondence. We keep correspondence as long as needed to handle your request and any necessary legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
Rejecting analytics leaves the website available. Use “Cookie settings” to change your choice at any time. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal data, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, and withdraw consent without affecting processing before withdrawal. Contact max@webh.dev to make a request. We may need proportionate information to identify data relating to you; analytics reports do not necessarily identify you by name.
You can complain to your data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
We will update this policy when website data practices change. The date above shows the latest revision.
